Lock knifes are more practical than the Balisong knife, they are faster to open and have belt clips

Instruction is on a one to one basis  ( but small groups

up to 4 or 5 people ) can be taught

Philippine Balisong knife ,  usualy assosiated with escrima . No matter how good you are with one, you will never open it faster than a lock knife

Jaguar escrima is non classical and is primarily for street defense, it is not a sport

The speed and force of the steel extendable baton, make it a formidable self defense tool that can be easily concealed and carried. Everything we learn with a rattan stick is transferable to the steel baton. Make sure it is legal to own and carry one in your country.

Sap gloves are the equivalent of knuckle dusters they enable a person to deliver punches with knuckleduster brutality. apparently they are legal, so again awareness is everything

Reality

Reality.  If you live in a county where you can legally own a gun then once you are trained how to use it ,this is your best form of self defense. all other forms of self defense are secondary to firearms. all weapon based systems have a massive advantage over  unarmed combat.        Many martial artists and non martial artists question the use  of being taught  stick fighting saying quite rightly you are not going to Cary a big stick with you everywhere you go. If a person can Cary a gun weighing upwards of six pounds around with them all day long then it is no great hardship to Cary an extendable steel baton and a lock knife with you on a daily basis. In the event these items are not available then you can use-unarmed street combat techniques

The myth of knife disarm

This is what a real knife attack looks like .   I challenge anybody to disarm the knife using traditiomal martial arts techniques.               This video does not belong to me, it comes from youtube

I teach basic knife concepts, i do not teach knife fighting, i don't know any real knife fighters, i have never net one in my 40 years in martial arts, i have met plenty of martial artists who play at knife fighting, and certainly the Escrima community is full of them, i have never had to defend myself against a knife in a real situation and neither have the majority of so called knife fighters on you tube. If anybody tells you they are a knife fighter, ask to see the puncture wounds and slash marks they must  have  from there many knife fights .      If you get into a knife fight, the looser will be probably be dead and the so called winner will be on his/her way to hospital . there is no 100 per cent   way of disarming a knife, anybody who tells you different is ether a fool or a liar , or both.

INSTRUCTORS WHO CLAIM TO BE KNIFE FIGHTERS

A very funny video of Jim Carey as a martial  ars instructor showing knife defense to his students. unfortunatley  this is more realistic than most instructors would want to admit.

THE BRUCE LEE OF THE HARMONICA

. If you watch the full video below(Eurythmics live Sydney Australia 1987 ) in the middle and at the end you will see a blistering Harmonica performance by Jimmy Zavala who kindly had no objections to me using it here. Many martial artists find music inspirational to train to, giving a rythm to there work out, I like to listen to the raw energy of this performance during some of my work outs.   Finding music you realy like can be benaficial to your work outs
